Powerful Duo: UGS Bad Lauchstädt

The Bad Lauchstädt Storage Facility is an especially effective combination of several types of storage: the neighboring caverns and depleted reservoirs are both operated using shared aboveground technical systems. The facilities can be used to both cover seasonal fluctuations as well as peaks in consumer demand.

Up North: UGS Jemgum

VGS has been developing a cavern storage facility in Lower Saxony together with WINGAS since 2009. The expansion of the storage facility is so far advanced that VGS can offer the capacities on the market at short notice. VGS's share of the total marketable working gas volume is approx. 1.6 TWh, or one sixth of the total capacity of the storage facility. As of 01.04.2019 VGS publishes the available capacities per storage year on its website as well as on the AGSI+ platform of GSE.
